Microsoft’s new “Web Platform” enhances Preditor’s cross-platform appeal
Microsoft recently announced the release of its new Web Platform that allows for the easy deployment of web-based applications. Critically however, it includes support for PHP – the powerful scripting language that Prefix Technologies uses to develop our own Preditor CMS for Publishers.
We’ve always maintained that Preditor can run on both the Microsoft and Windows server platforms, yet in most cases, we land up on the Linux platform due to its native support for PHP and its supporting technologies. This release means that customers who are more comfortable with a Microsoft environment for their servers can more easily deploy Preditor on their existing infrastructure.
With this being the first release, it is early days for Microsoft Web Platform, but it is very encouraging. A Preditor distributed environment for our big customers can now more easily consist of any combination of clustered Microsoft and Linux servers.
Essentially, this means that customers running IIS for ASP, can use the same servers to run IIS for PHP. The mySQL requirement is also easily achieved.
